William Stoughton was the Chief Magistrate presiding over the Salem witch trials.
Biography
Stoughton was a member of the Lucian branch of the Cahill family and a Clue hunter, searching for a Clue rumored to have been brought to America by the Janus. He used his power to order the execution of rival Cahills in the area by deeming them witches. Stoughton's fellow Lucians were eventually able to steal the Clue, Honey, and hide it in their stronghold in Paris, France, before Janus agent Thomas Jefferson stole it back a century later.
