Arctic

An Arctic landscape

The Arctic is the northernmost region of the Earth, located around the North Pole. The region is icy and cold, making it difficult to inhabit. Few humans live in the Arctic, but the region is the native habitat of polar bears.

The Arctic has long attracted explorers and adventure-seekers, including many members of the Tomas branch of the Cahill family (according to The Black Book of Buried Secrets, the region is even considered a Tomas stronghold). One Tomas agent, Sir John Franklin, sought to hide a Tomas Clue, Magnesium, in the Arctic at the North Pole, but his ship ran aground and he and his crew starved to death. Another Tomas, Heinrich Heinrichson, snowshoed in the Arctic, possibly in search of Franklin's lost Clue.

During the Clue Hunt, Team Two visited the Arctic, likely also searching for the Clue. Hamilton Holt left the rest of his family at one point after an argument and narrowly escaped a polar bear as part of a test by The Watcher, a Vesper agent.

Madrigal agent Amy Cahill visited the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in the Arctic while searching for silphium seeds, an ingredient of the serum antidote. While there, she was attacked by Piercers, who destroyed the seeds and locked her inside the vault, from which she was narrowly able to escape.
