Mary Read was an English pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy. She was a member of the Madrigal branch of the Cahill family. Read sailed under pirate Jack Rackham, together with fellow female pirate and Madrigal Anne Bonny. She may have been involved in the Clue hunt with Bonny, and may have been aware of the Clue Bonny found and hid, Mace. Read, along with Rackham and Bonny, was arrested for piracy, but avoided execution by claiming to be pregnant. A few months later, Read died in prison.
