Mary Arden was Madeleine Cahill's daughter. In 1557, a year after her father Robert Arden died, she married John Shakespeare. He was then given a coat of arms for his loyal service to King Henry VIII. This was when Madeline erased herself from the Arden family tree as her brother Luke was close to the king too. In April of 1564, Mary gave birth to the famous playwright, poet, and the first famous Madrigal, William Shakespeare.
