Marie Marvingt was a French athlete and adventurer, and a member of the Tomas branch of the Cahill family. Some of her many achievements include completing the Tour de France (despite not being allowed to enter), scaling several peaks in the Alps (the first woman to do so), and fighting in World War I as a combat pilot. Marvingt was also an accomplished balloonist and nurse, and was nicknamed the "fiancée of danger".
