The Institute for International Diplomacy is a Lucian stronghold located in the Passy neighborhood of Paris, France. The building is large and made of marble, with a wrought iron gate protecting it. Inside, the stronghold has a logistics room, a cartography room, and an arsenal, and portraits of famous Lucians (including Napoleon Bonaparte, Isaac Newton, and Winston Churchill). The stronghold may have been founded by Clue hunter Benjamin Franklin, who was both a Lucian and a diplomat.

Near the beginning of the Clue Hunt, Lucian agent Irina Spasky (aka Team Five) visited the stronghold to analyze Poor Richard's Almanack. She discovered the location of the entrance to the Paris Catacombs, the hiding place of the Clue Iron Solute, inadvertently revealing its locations to Team Seven and Team Two.
