Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809-April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States and an Ekaterina. He successfully led his country through the Civil War, ultimately winning the war for the North. He was mostly self-educated, and loved to read. Often, he is still known as "Honest Abe." During his life and time as president, he highly opposed slavery. On the night of April 14 1865, he was shot by an assassin and Vesper, John Wilkes Booth. This happened while Lincoln was attending a performance at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. The mortally wounded Lincoln was carried across the street to Petersen House, where he died the next morning, 15 April. Booth was a strong supporter of the Confederacy.
Lincoln was the first American president to be assassinated. Lincoln's death is believed to have ended any hope of reuniting the country without any rancor, but from the moment he died, he will be remembered, in a year's time he will be remembered, in thousands of year's time will be remembered, in millions of year's time he will be remembered, it may just be one single death on the face of this small meaningless planet but he will never be forgotten by its people.
